Monitoring
Sawmill Creek to Kelly Creek (including the Thompson River downstream of the Bonaparte River )
Fisheries and Oceans Canada is currently responsible for monitoring this area with the assistance of contract monitors from the NNTC (NRO Program) in the Sawmill Creek to Texas Creek area, from Nicomen in the Thompson River and from Bridge River , Fountain, Cayoose and Pavilion in the Texas Creek to Kelly Creek area. Sockeye Catch monitoring began July 5th with boat and vehicles patrols to gather gear effort and catch information and 16-HR Access Sites to collect effort profile information. Patrols ended Sept 27th.
Barney Creek to French Bar
High Bar Indian Band monitors their fisheries using a sample survey expanded post season. They began monitoring July 28th and ended Sept 22nd.
Deadman Creek to Marguerite Ferry/Chilko and Chilcotin Rivers
Esketemc First Nation, Cariboo Tribal Council and Tsilhqot'in National Government all monitor their own fisheries using an interview census survey. Incomplete catch interviews are expanded Post-Season. Patrols of this area began July 5 with TNG monitors, Esketemc on the 7 th and CTC on the 12h of July. All patrols ended as of Sept 8th.
Naver Creek to Salmon River/Nechako River downstream of Isle Pierre/Bowron River
Lheidli T'enneh Indian Band monitors their fisheries using an interview census survey. Monitoring began July 18 th and the last report was received for weekending Sept 5th.
Nechako River upstream of Isle Pierre/Stuart River System
Carrier Sekani Tribal Council, Saik'uz and Tl'azt'en Nation all monitor their own fisheries using an interview census survey. Monitoring in the Nakazdli, Takla and Stellako areas began July 12th and ended Sept 5th. Tl'azt'en began monitoring July 19th and ended Sept 17th . The harvest numbers from the Tl'azt'en fishery at Yale have been added as a footnote.
Thompson River upstream of the Bonaparte River
The Secwepemc Fisheries Commission monitors their fisheries using an interview census survey. They also monitor harvests at facilities like the Bonaparte Fishway, Deadman Creek Fence, Louis Creek Fence, Scotch Creek Fence and the Secwepemc Fishwheel. Monitoring has been in place in most areas since early August and some have even provided back data to early June. The last update was received Sept 30th.
Okanagan River/Middle Shuswap River
Okanagan First Nations Bands monitor their fisheries using an interview census survey. No monitoring program occurred in the 2004 fishing season.
